Geotechnical Engineering

As geotechnical engineers, we characterize the site surface and subsurface conditions and utilize that knowledge to provide efficient and economical parameters for design of a variety of structures.

Critical information is collected through geologic reconnaissance, research, and subsurface exploration.  Soil and bedrock samples obtained during these procedures are laboratory tested to evaluate engineering properties and subsequent design parameters.  Our expertise reaches into soil/structure interaction and behavior, structure foundations, retaining walls, pavements, dams, ground water control, materials use, ground stabilization, and ground improvements.

Geocal geologists use their knowledge of the Rocky Mountain Region to evaluate and help mitigate for slope instabilities, rock fall, debris flow potential, rock mass characterization, liquefaction of sediments, expansive soils and bedrock, and other geologic conditions affecting civil engineering projects.
